£350.00 incl. VAT

The BAM Hightech Violin Cabin case is designed to comply with the carry-on baggage restrictions imposed by airlines. This allows you to take your violin into the cabin and not leave it to the mercy of the extreme temperature fluctuations of the aircraft hold – not to mention the handling of hold luggage!

The outside dimensions are within the limits of normal overhead cabin luggage*. It doesn’t have space for a bow which can either be put in your case in the hold or would normally go in a BAM bow tube (see separate product) in hold luggage. The cabin case comes with a set of 2 elastic retainers to attach the bow tube to the case.

BAM Hightech Violin Cabin case features:

    :

What is the point of a violin case where you can’t even fit a violin bow? Well, this is just such a case, and the reason is clear: so that you can take your precious violin as cabin baggage and not have it suffer abuse in the hold. As such, this case does exactly what it promises: it is a minimalist yet solid structure around the violin itself, with no space for any accessories. Technically it does slightly exceed the cabin baggage allowance (length – by a few centimeters) – but it is so small and cute, that I’ve even taken it aboard evil Ryanair fights without them flinching an eye

Is it perfect? NO. I would dearly love to meet the designer of this case, so that he/she could explain why they have fitted two (yes, two) combination locks on what should have been a simple little protective case. So you put your multi-million Stradivarius in it, and you think it’s secured with a combination code – the thief won’t simply pick up the case and walk away with it??? On the contrary, the combination codes are a pain in the backside and serve absolutely no useful purpose. If anything, it’s a way of saying “hey – I’m valuable – steal me”. I just cannot get inside the head of the designer.

Apart from that niggle, the case does what it should: it contours the outline of the violin, it protects the instrument, and it is small – so you should be able to carry your precious instrument as cabin luggage, which is the whole idea.
