As a long-time user of Thomastik Spirocore Tungsten lower strings, I wanted to try the new Versum strings as Thomastik are describing them as more balanced alternative. They are the same basic mix of spiral core and tungsten winding, but even after a short time I can tell that these are a brighter alternative. I have a ‘dark’ sounding cello, and these bring a brighter, more powerful sound than the Spirocore strings. I’ve only tried the G for a week, and will be getting the C to match. If they last as long as the Spirocores, I’ll be very happy.
