The Wittner Finetune pegs for Violin have made a huge impact on teaching as teachers can now spend considerably less time tuning and more time teaching.  They offer precise, geared tuning which is effortless and quick and won’t slip.

The pegs are made of a hi-tech composite material but look and are fitted just like a traditional violin peg. The peg does not move in the peg box so wear is massively reduced whilst the tuning is made incredibly easy with precision gearing within the peg. The pegs, being composite, are naturally not susceptible to climate change.

Wittner Finetune pegs for Violin:

  • 3/4-4/4 size Violin:
    • Medium is 8.6mm diameter at the ring
    • Slim is 7.8mm at the ring
  • 1/4-1/2 size violin:
    • slim only and 7.2mm at the ring.

The Wittner finetune pegs for violin can be purchased individually or as a set of four. It is recommended that the pegs are professionally fitted.

  1. Peter H (verified owner)

I have fitted Wittner fine tuner pegs to both my viola and violin. In short, they do everything promised by the manufacturer. Their action is smooth, with an appropriate amount of resistance to enable exact tuning. Once tension is released, there is no play on the peg and it stays precisely where it was left. Luckily, the black format blends with with existing ebony pegs, but of course would stand out against a rosewood set. I am very happy with their performance and would readily recommend them to other players. All I need to do now, is to train myself not to go automatically to the tailpiece looking for an adjuster!

  2. Persephone C Booth

My local violin shop has just put Wittner pegs on my fiddle. I have geared tuners on my ukuleles and couldn’t understand why anybody would want to struggle with wooden peg tuners on a violin!
The Wittners are truly excellent, and look remarkably like the wooden pegs they have replaced. I have no hesitation in recommending them, although I do understand that some classical players with antique violins might not want to swop!

  3. Paul

I had these fitted by the excellent luthier at Caswells before the pandemic. My instrument is a fine 18th. Century one which has benefited hugely. Older instruments can suffer if there is too much strain on the pegbox, so now I don’t worry. I also have the benefit of my instrument looking even more authentic because there are no fine tuners on the tailpiece at all. Win win
