Spirocore Viola C string

(1 customer review)

The Thomastik Spirocore Viola C string is chrome wound on a spiral core. The spiral core is an advance on the standard rope core as it has more elasticity, therefore a higher period of vibration than other rope strings.

The sound of the Spirocore Viola strings is round, homogeneous and powerful. The hi-tech core enables effortless fingering, responsive bowing, stable tuning and an extremely long duration of life. With Spirocore the steel string’s technical possibilities have been developed to their maximum.

Available here as a single string or also as part of the full set.

  1. Catherine

Thank you for suggesting and sending the Spirocore viola C string way back in September. You’ve solved my problem and saved me a lot of money to boot, as I would have been wrestling with need versus £’s over whether or not to change the Eva Pirazzi string yet.

When I first put this string on my viola it sounded and felt very rough, and took several days to hold its pitch. It took some perseverance on my part not to ditch it, but I’m glad I didn’t because now, three months later, it shows no signs of the sogginess to which Evah Pirazzi was prone on my small instrument, and produces a clear and focussed sound. Hurray! I have to say that under the ear it sounds less rich than the EP, and requires some careful handling to avoid the occasional harshness, but I’m told by my fellow chamber musicians that it’s not noticeable to the listener.
